Recruiting
Interested in joining our lab? If you are an undergraduate, a potential graduate student, or a postdoc with strong interests in applying
evolutionary, ecological, or conservation theory to real world organisms, we may be a home for you. We are always interested in
new lab members, particularly if you have a strong academic record, enjoy a demanding and productive work environment, and are
interested in organismal biology. Many of our recruits have strong molecular and phylogenetic skills, although some of our recent
graduates have never handled an pippeteman (and never want to).
Many of our undergraduate lab members are Evolution & Ecology (EVE) majors,
although we welcome students from other majors and colleges. For potential graduate students, we primarily draw students
from the Population Biology Graduate Group (PBGG) and the
Graduate Group in Ecology (GGE), and you should look closely at their web sites
for additional information. Briefly, the PBGG tends to be more quantitative and less applied than GGE--in our lab, evolutionary
geneticists and systematists tend to be drawn more to PBGG, whereas conservation-oriented students tend to gravitate toward the
GGE. Both are wonderful options, and we can help you determine which is a better fit for your needs and abilities. For more
information, contact Brad Shaffer. |
